Peer Mentorship

Peer mentors are an integral part of first-year students’ academic support network. As a peer mentor in the Fall semester, I helped promote a positive relationship between faculty, Resident Assistants and the first-year students in order to support them through their transitional first semester at school. I attended their class to be a source of encouragement and support for a diverse set of needs. During the academic advisement and course registration process, I supported first-years through in-class workshops and was available throughout the period to offer guidance and answer questions. I also worked to provide connections for first-year students to get involved beyond the classroom. From the first day welcoming families to campus, to seeing my mentees complete their finals, this process was incredibly rewarding. Through this job I was able to meet so many amazing people and work to develop my leadership skills.
